How can we help?
Answers to common questions about the FindBack app. If you can’t find what you need, email support@findbackai.com. We reply within two business days.
I lost something
- Open the app and tap Report, then I Lost Something.
- Choose a category, describe the item and add photos if you have any.
- Mark roughly where and when you lost it. The public only ever sees an approximate area.
- Add private ownership details that only the owner would know, such as a serial number, a sticker or what’s inside. They’re encrypted and never shown publicly; they help you prove ownership later.
- Under Where I’ve been, add the airport, station, campus or venue where it might have turned up. Items logged by those desks are checked against your report wherever you live.
FindBack notifies you when it finds a likely match. You can keep watching for up to 12 months.
I found something
If you found the item at an airport, station, hotel, campus or venue, the quickest way home for it is usually that place’s own lost & found desk. Hand it in there.
Otherwise, tap Report, then I Found Something. Add a photo and a short description, and leave out anything that would let someone fake a claim. Don’t photograph ID cards, bank cards or the item’s serial number. You can add up to five secret questions for the owner to answer; only someone who knows the right answers should get it back.
Claims and proving ownership
- When you see your item, tap This might be mine and answer the finder’s questions. Only the person holding the item sees your answers.
- The finder or the desk approves or declines the claim. If it’s approved, a private chat opens so you can arrange the return.
- Your email address and phone number are never shared. Share contact details in chat only if you choose to.
- After the handover, both sides confirm it in the app and the reports close.
Staying safe
- Meet in a busy public place during the day, or collect from the desk’s counter.
- FindBack never charges you to get your item back. Be wary of anyone asking for money, gift cards or payment links before a return.
- Check the item before you leave, and confirm the handover in the app.
- If something feels wrong, stop, and report the conversation from the chat menu.
Items held by a lost & found desk
Many airports, transit agencies, campuses and venues use FindBack to log items handed in to their staff. Their found-items page shows pickup hours and the ID you’ll need to bring. Desks hold items for a limited time set by law or their own policy, so claim early. Desks with a verified Official badge have proved they control the organization’s own website domain.
FindBack does not ship items. You collect your item in person from the desk or the finder.
