Delete your FindBack account
You can delete your FindBack AI account at any time, from the app or by email. This page explains both ways and what happens to your data.
In the app
- Open FindBack AI and sign in.
- Go to Profile and tap Delete account.
- Confirm. You’re signed out on every device.
By email (if you can’t use the app)
Email privacy@findbackai.com from the email address on your account, with the subject “Delete my FindBack account”. If you write from another address, we’ll ask you to confirm you own the account before we act. We start the deletion within 5 business days and reply when it’s done.
What happens next
- 14-day grace period. Your account is scheduled for deletion and you’re signed out. If you change your mind within those 14 days, sign in and tap Cancel deletion in Profile, or email privacy@findbackai.com.
- After 14 days, we permanently delete your sign-in details (password, Apple and Google sign-in links, sessions), device push tokens, private ownership details, your “Where I’ve been” places and any claim evidence you sent. Your email address and name are removed from the account, the text of messages you sent is deleted, and your open reports are closed.
- What remains, and for how long. The public description and photos of reports you made stay attached to an anonymous “Deleted user” so the other person’s record of a return still makes sense. Their photos are deleted 90 days after the report closes, and backup copies 30 days after that. Security audit records refer to an internal account number, not your name or email, and are kept for up to 2 years to investigate abuse and meet legal obligations. Database backups are kept for [backup retention period: confirm in the PlanetScale console before publishing].
- Records kept by institutions. If an airport, campus or other organization returned an item to you, its custody register is that organization’s own record and is kept under its policies and the law that applies to it.
Other options
- To get a copy of your data before you go, email privacy@findbackai.com.
- To take down a single report instead of the whole account, open the report in the app and close it.
