How it works

Report it
Describe what you lost or found, add photos, and mark roughly where and when. Keep private details, like a serial number or what’s written inside, for yourself.
Get matched
FindBack compares photos and descriptions with reports nearby, and with the lost & found desks you list under “Where I’ve been”, then tells you about likely matches.
Prove it’s yours
Send a claim with details only the owner would know. The finder or the desk checks them before anything is released. Nobody sees your evidence except the person deciding.
Pick it up
After approval, chat privately to arrange the return: in a public place, or at the desk’s counter during pickup hours. Both sides confirm the handover.

Lost and found is a target for scams and for people claiming items that aren’t theirs. FindBack is designed around that.
- Serial numbers, ID numbers and private notes are encrypted and never shown publicly.
- Public maps show an approximate area, never your exact location.
- Photo location data (EXIF and GPS) is removed from every image you upload.
- Your email address and phone number are never shown to the other person.
- Chat opens only after a claim is approved, and FindBack warns you when a message asks you to read back a verification code, a common lost-and-found scam.
- Lost medical items, such as hearing aids, medication or a mobility aid, are hidden from public view by default.
